About Blair

I believe strongly in a healthy and dynamic democracy which has room for many voices. As such, I’m honoured to be representing Green values of sustainability and consensus building on the ballot in 2023.

I grew up in Winnipeg, spent summers in the Whiteshell, and lived in Lorette for many years. I now live full time at West Hawk Lake. I’ve had a lifelong interest in community service; volunteering for the Winnipeg Assiniboine Rotaract service club for many years, serving as treasurer for both Frere Jacques Nursery school and the 1st Lorette Scout group where I also led the Cub Pack. I served with Arts Lorette, ran a local live music coffee house, and accompanied the Seine Singers woman’s choir for many years.

I’ve been an active member of the federal Green Party Provencher Electoral District Association since 2015, have contributed to policy development on both the national and provincial level and have recently taken on the chair of the Policy & Platform Committee for the Green Party of Manitoba.

I’m a software developer who has built applications for small retail businesses for many years and have had several clients in Beausejour, Lac du Bonnet, Pine Falls, Pinawa, and Whitemouth. While I work at a desk now, I always enjoyed traveling around the area to meet with folks in this spectacular land of fields, waterways, and woods.

I play guitar and sing and for many years performed with my band, Plain Salt. I enjoy sailing, skiing, kayaking, hiking, and have recently taken up horseback riding. You may even find me occasionally leading trail rides at the nearby riding stables.

I’m an advocate for proportional representation and other electoral reform, a proponent of a basic income guarantee,  support the establishment of citizen’s assemblies (particularly on healthcare), and, of course, I believe we must develop a much more sustainable approach to our relationship with the environment.
